In last month's quick poll, after breathing a sigh of relief from the holiday whirlwind, we asked our readers to think about what significant changes they observed in shopper behavior during the 2007 holiday season. Here's what our readers had to say:

Thirty-four percent of you said that "people bought less quantity," which of course isn't the answer we want to hear, but perhaps the result of a recession. However, 25% said that "people bought more natural/organic foods," an important growing trend to take note of and create opportunities from for next year's holiday shoppers. Meanwhile, 13% said, "people bought less expensive items," triggering again thoughts about a possible recession. Finally, convenience and nutrition round out the list, with 10% saying, "people bought more fresh foods," 10% saying, "people bought more nutritious foods," and another eight percent saying, "people bought more prepared foods."
