Phil Lempert
Dear Phil,
I work in the consumer affairs department of a major supermarket chain based in the Northeast. My managers and staff are frankly inundated with questions from our customers about the interrelationship between their health and the foods they eat. Could you recommend some websites that we could publish for our customers to use (free of charge)?
Thanks, Karen M.

Dear Karen,

There are several websites out there that offer helpful, free insight on diet, food safety, and related health concerns.

One great, free resource is our consumer-focused site, Supermarketguru.com. Supermarket Guru is updated daily with the latest trends, products and health information, and provides a weekly “Newsflash” subscription to bring these items directly to your inbox. Another useful site, DrWeil.com, is a fantastic spot for tidbits on healthy living and integrative medicine. Dr. Weil’s site features a weekly bulletin too.

Government websites like CDC.gov and USDA.gov also offer important food and health tools, complete with online quizzes and statistics. The USDA even has a site dedicated solely to nutrition. That site – Nutrition.gov – allows users to review nutrient profiles for 13,000 foods commonly eaten in the U.S.

Educated customers are happy customers, so it’s great to hear that yours are concerned about their health and willing to learn more about their food choices. Have fun surfing!

Sincerely, Phil
